UK Breaking News 24×7 aims to publish accurate, useful and clearly attributed journalism. This Editorial Policy explains the standards we apply to reporting, editing and publication.
Our Editorial Principles
We prioritise accuracy over speed, distinguish fact from opinion, identify sources wherever practical, correct material errors transparently and avoid headlines that misrepresent the substance of a story.
Accuracy and Verification
Before publication, writers should verify names, dates, figures, quotations and material claims using reliable sources. For developing stories, we distinguish confirmed information from claims that remain unverified or subject to change.
Sources and Attribution
We prefer primary and authoritative sources, including official documents, public records, court materials, company filings, direct statements, recognised data providers and on-the-record interviews. When another publication provides original reporting that is material to our story, we attribute it clearly and link to it where appropriate.
Anonymous Sources
Anonymous sourcing should be used only when the information is in the public interest and the source has a credible reason for confidentiality. An editor should understand the source’s identity, access to the information and potential motivations before publication.
Opinion, Analysis and News
News reports, analysis, reviews, opinion and sponsored material should be labelled or presented clearly enough that readers can understand what type of content they are reading. Opinion belongs to the named author unless otherwise stated.
Conflicts of Interest
Writers and editors should disclose relevant financial, personal or professional interests that could reasonably affect, or appear to affect, their independence. Contributors should not cover organisations or subjects where an undisclosed conflict would undermine reader trust.
Commercial Independence
Advertising, affiliate relationships and commercial partnerships must not dictate factual conclusions in editorial coverage. Paid or sponsored content should be clearly identified.
Use of AI and Automated Tools
Automated tools may support research, transcription, formatting or other production tasks, but material factual claims should be reviewed by a responsible human author or editor before publication. Automated output is not a substitute for source verification.
Corrections and Updates
When a material error is confirmed, we correct it as promptly as practical and add a correction or update note when the change is significant. See our Corrections Policy for details.
